13th Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh will celebrate his 87th birthday on September 26, 2019. Singh held office from 22 May 2004 to 26 May 2014 and is termed as one of the cleanest PM in Indian politics till date. Let’s peep into his personal life and professional achievements.
Born in Gah (present Pakistan), Singh’s family migrated from Pakistan to India at the time of partition. Singh was very close to his paternal grandmother as he lost his mother at a very young age. He completed his graduation and post graduation in Economics from Panjab University, later obtained his doctorate in Economics from Oxford University. For his Di fill degree Singh went to the University of Oxford in 1960. In between he worked as a professor at Panjab University.
From 1966-1969, Singh word for the United Nations which marks the initiation of his administrative career. He was the 15th Governor of RBI.
Singh was appointed as the chairman of the Planning Commission in 1985, followed by the unexpected office of Finance ministry in PV Narasimha Rao government. The great economist, which he is; Singh was the Saviour of Indian economy from 1991 economic crisis.
Dr Manmohan Singh is married to Mrs. Gursharan Kaur and has three children. Singh, after Jawaharlal Nehru is the only prime minister to hold the office two times consecutively. We wish a very Happy Birthday to the most educated Prime Minister India ever had.
