IIFA 2019: Alia and Ranveer Singh bag best actor awards; Vicky Kaushal pockets best supporting actor

International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), 2019 honored a number of well-known personalities from the Hindi film industry for their special input.

Biggies including Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ishaan Khatter, Sara Ali Khan, filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and many others bagged awards and win accolades for their special roles, acting under different categories.

During the 20th version of the IIFA Awards (International Indian Film Academy Awards), film Raazi remained on top and bagged the best movie award.

Raazi star Alia Bhatt, who played the role of a spy in the movie, got the best actress award.

Ranveer Singh was amazed when he was handed over the Best Actor IIFA award for his character Alauddin Khilji for the movie Padmaavat.

Both the flicks Raazi and Padmaavat bagged 10 nominations each, second highest after AndhaDhun. AndhaDhun, which bagged the highest nominations with 13 gestures, pocketed the Best Director honor for Sriram Raghavan.

Vicky Kaushal won the best supporting actor award for the film Sanju. Thus, on the other hand, Aditi Rao Hydari won the best supporting actress for the film Padmaavat.

There were even some special awards. Deepika Padukone won the special award for best actress for the film Chennai Express. Ranbir Kapoor also won the special award for best actor for the film Barfi, in which he showcased his remarkable acting skills. Rajkumar Hirani won the award for the category of best director for 3 Idiots, and Pritam Chakraborty got awarded for the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The B-town also cheered for Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and it won a special award under the Best Film of the last 20 years category.

Saroj Khan was given the award for her outstanding contribution to the cinema and one her favorite student Madhuri Dixit paid special tribute to her.

Best Story – Sriram Raghavan, Pooja Ladha Surti, Arijit Biswas, Yogesh Chandekar and Hemanth Rao (AndhaDhun)

Best Music Direction – Amaal Mallik, Guru Randhawa, Rochak Kohli, Saurabh-Vaibhav and Zack Knight (Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety)

Best Lyrics – Amitabh Bhattacharya (Dhadak)

Best Playback Singer (Female) – Harshdeep Kaur and Vibha Saraf (Dilbaro from Raazi)

Best Playback Singer (Male) – Arijit Singh for (Ae Watan from Raazi)

Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema – Saroj Khan and Jagdeep
