From Prabhu Deva to Farah Khan, Bollywood’s directors that were originally the most admired choreographers

Choreography, the art or practice of designing sequences of movements of physical bodies in which motions form or both are specified. With these talents there are many artists. Some of the popular choreographers become directors today. So, here are some of the top choreographers who turned in voguish directors today:

Prabhu Deva

Apart from being known for his dancing prowess, the multi-talented Prabhu Deva had also directed several films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The Indian Government has conferred Prabhu Deva, a veteran actor-dancer with the Padma Shri in the field of art dance. Often known as Indian Michael Jackson, Prabhu Deva has thrilled audience with his agile moves and choreography in a career spanning 25 years.

The multi-talented artist has also directed several films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu including 2005 Tollywood blockbuster Nuvvosthanante Nenodantana starring Siddharth and Trisha and 2005 Hindi film Wanted, which is a remake of the Tamil film Pokkiri starring Vijay.

Farah Khan

Farah Khan who is a film director, film producer, actress, dancer and choreographer, is best known for her choreographic dance work in numerous Bollywood films. Bollywood’s favourite choreographer climbed the fairy ladder. Quickly her work in over 100 songs in the 1990s and 2000s spanned popular films like 1942: A love story, DDLJ and Dabangg

But true calling for the successful choreography came with the release of her directorial debut Main Hoon Na in 2004 produced by and featuring friend Shah Rukh Khan.

Remo D’Souza

Remo D’Souza is a dancer, choreographer, actor and film director. He made India’s first 3D dance movie, ABCD – AnyBody Can Dance, with contestants from season 1 and season 2 of Dance India Dance (Dharmesh YelandePunit PathakSalman Yusuff KhanRaghav Juyal, Prince and others), Prabhu Deva and Lauren Gottlieb. His next directorial venture, ABCD 2, was released in June 2015. It starred Varun DhawanShraddha Kapoor, and Prabhu Deva in lead roles, with Lauren GottliebPunit PathakRaghav Juyal, and Dharmesh Yelande in supporting roles.

Remo D’Souza is known for his work on Race 3 (2018), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and A Flying Jatt (2016).

Ahmed Khan

Ahmed Khan is a choreographer, producer, actor, director, and writer. He has choreographed several films after a brief acting stage, and has moved onto writing, producing, and directing other Bollywood films. As of 2019, Khan is judging celebrity dance show Nach Baliye 9 on Star Plus.

Ganesh Acharya

Ganesh Acharya is a choreographer, film director and occasional film actor active in Bollywood. He has choreographed for Bodyguard and Singham. He has also appeared in numerous music videos for films. He opened out as a film actor with the 2013 dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance. His debut as a film director was with the 2007 movie Swami.
