Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Tanhaji opens with mixed reviews and ratings from the critics

Ajay Devgn’s recent release – Tanhaji is based on the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted, Tanhaji Malusare. The movie is Ajay Devgn’s 100th movie of his career and it also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kajol in the pivotal roles. The word of mouth has been in favor of the film while many were disappointed by the film.

India Today gave 2.5 stars out of 5: Om Raut directorial Tanhaji is exceptionally well when it comes to cinematography and narrating. However, somewhere it was exaggerating and tried to make him look like a wonder human with heroic capabilities.

Indian Express gave just 2 stars out of 5:

It is a movie for that section of people who loves simple style stories from the past. 

Pinkvilla gave 4 stars of  5: Ajay and Kajol’s Tanhaji turns the pages of history that ought to be told to the society. With a good story, cinematography, dialogues, and music, the movie has wisely depicted Tanhaji Malusare’s life.

News 18 gave 3.5 stars out of 5: The depiction of Tanhaji was done well. With planned scenes and good camera angles, the movie will hold your interest until the last scene. However, it looks like the film is shown from one angle and it is limited in content. But overall it is engaging.

TOI gave 4 stars out of 5: The movie is good with the script, powerful action and stellar performances from the actors. The movie should be seen to know about the brave leader Tanhaji Malusare’s life and his struggles.
