2020 is not just a new decade but is also a new and empowering turn for Bollywood films. Women have undoubtedly outshone men and are now taking lead in this field as well.
Actresses like Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Panu, Kangana Ranaut, and Alia Bhatt are all set to create magic on screen this year with their respective films scheduled to be releasing soon.
It is amazing how people are not only deciding to make women-centric films but are also being very welcoming on the receiving end and are highly supportive of such content.

1. Chhapaak
Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak. Directed by Meghna Gulzaar, is a real story of an acid survivor Laxmi Agarwal, is all set to hit the theaters on 10th January,2020.
2. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl
A biographical drama film directed by Sharan Sharma starring Jahnvi Kapoor, Angad Bedi, and Pankaj Tripathi is said to release on 13th March 2020
3. Shakuntala Devi
A biographical film directed and written by Anu Menon starring Vidya Balan who plays Shakuntala Devi, A mental calculator who was known as human-computer. The film is said to release in summer 2020.
4. Panga
Starring gorgeous and versatile Kangana Ranaut, Pangaa revolves around the life of a national level kabaddi player from India, on a journey to regain her lost title. Directed by Ashwini Iyer, the movie is said to release on 24th January 2020.
5. Thalaivi
Another Kangana Ranaut starrer, is an Indian trilingual biographical film directed by A.L Vijay releasing on 26th June 2020.
Unlike regular entertainers, most of these films have been inspired by real-life stories and thus, bring something different to the table. Movies like this don’t revolve around the usual Hero-saves-heroine mentality and instead asserts how women of today’s day and age, need no knight and shining armor to save the day.
Besides the basic storyline, even the social messages conveyed through this medium, are not just influential but are also eye-opening and thought-provoking, which is surely a sign of progress with regards to Indian cinema.
