Deepika Padukone is busy with the promotions of her soon to be released film Chhapaak, where she plays a completely different role than she has before. Deepika is one of the actresses in Bollywood who has taken challenging roles head-on and proved herself as an actor. However, the journey for her has not been as easy with critics and the audience criticizing her in the early days of her career. In an interview with Laughing Colours, Deepika spoke about the same and also why she took up a challenging role in Chhapaak. Deepika even spoke her heart out about what it takes to become a mother.
Speaking about the criticism she had to face at the beginning of her career, she said, “Maybe people did not see my true potential earlier and people did criticize me but I always looked at it positively at the same time I did not entertain negativity, as criticism and negativity are two very different things.”
Deepika who plays a completely different character in Chhapaak spoke about how she has always loved to play characters that are challenging and meaningful. “Professionally call it destiny or luck I came across a character like the one I am playing in Chhapaak and the fact that someone thought of making a mainstream cinema out of the story was itself very inspiring. Though like everyone has been telling me that maybe not many mainstream actors would take up a role like this, for me personally I don’t think I made a bold move though. I’ve always looked forward to doing films that are meaningful to me and films that bring about a change,” added Deepika.
When we asked her the big question that has been on almost every fan’s mind, Deepika first laughed out loud and joked “Do I look pregnant from any angle? I am not planning a baby and if in case I am pregnant, then you guys will see the result in the next nine months!”
We’re all quite curious to know what kind of parents the actors would make and so our next question was obviously what she thought about parenting and the kind of mom she would make when she has her own child. Deepika tackled the question calmly and with a smile on her face, “I think I will figure out what kind of a mom I will be when it happens, it all depends on when it happens. Parenting is the responsibility of two people and it really depends on how together we decide to parent. One of our friends just had a baby and they told us that no matter how much people tell you about parenting, at the end of the day you are going to be a mother and a father for the first time. Your child is a newborn and you are also new parents and you figure it out as you go along.”
But there was one thing about being a mom that Deepika was pretty sure about. She said she would definitely be the disciplinarian parent while Ranveer would be the cool dad. “Yes when it comes to discipline the child, I think I will be the disciplinarian and Ranveer will be more of the chilled out parent and spoil the kid! But I know my children will value me when they get older.”
Well, we’re confident that they will surely value her, and we can’t wait to see the junior version of DeepVeer can we?
