New Year’s Day: Over 67K Babies Take Birth In India, China Remains Second: UNICEF

India is likely to exceed China as the globe’s most populated country by the year 2027.

As per UN approximations, India is likely to add approximately 273 million people between the years 2019 to 2050.

As per the UN children’s agency, approximately 400,000 babies took birth all over the globe on Jan 01, 2020, and India recorded the maximum number of these births globally, which stood at 67,385.

According to UNICEF, around 392,078 babies took birth all over the world on New Year’s Day and out of the said estimate, 67,385 babies took birth in India, the most universally. China remained in second position with 46,299 births.

UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore stated that the start of 2020 and a new decade is an opportunity to reflect on our prospects and goals not only for our future but the future of those who will come after us.

Fiji in the Pacific most probably delivered 2020’s first baby, whilst the US, the last of 2020’s Day.

Globally, over half of these births were projected to have occurred in eight nations comprising India (67,385), China (46,299), Nigeria (26,039), Pakistan (16,787), Indonesia (13,020), USA (10,452), Democratic Republic of Congo (10,247) and Ethiopia (8,493).

Each January, UNICEF celebrates babies that take birth on New Year’s Day, a favorable day for childbirth all over the globe, it said. But, for millions of newborns all over the globe, the day of their birth is far less fortunate.

UNICEF added that over the last three decades, the world has seen notable growth in child survival.
